1. INTRODUCTION
This specification covers the requirements for application of Modular Jacks designed to be mounted to a
printed circuit (pc) board. The jacks are available as unshielded, shielded, and filtered designs to accommodate
specific application requirements. There are 4 position handset jacks and there are 4, 6, 8, and 10 position line
jacks. This specification pertains to all shielded and unshielded jacks with top and side entry ports, and with
single or multiple ports.
When corresponding with TE Personnel, use the terminology provided on this specification to help facilitate
assistance. Basic terms and features of components are provided in Figure 1.
