Conformal Coating Stripper
8309 Technical Data Sheet
8309
Description
The 8309
Conformal Coating Stripper
is available in both liquid and pen format. It removes most
reworkable conformal coatings and readily removes thermoplastic (non-cross linked) acrylics, urethanes,
and silicones based conformal coatings. It also facilitates the removal of some thermoset coatings like
cross-linked silicones and polyurethanes by softening or swelling the coat to aid with mechanical removal.
This stripper is safe for most types of PCB components. It is fully biodegradable and environmentally safe.
Applications & Usages
The primary applications of the 8309 are for PCB maintenance and repairs. It also works well for removing
conductive ink lacquers. The low viscosity allows PCBs to be easily submersed in the stripper.

Compatibility
Although this stripper is safe for most materials found on printed circuit boards, always carry out a
suitability test on similar substrates prior to use. Protect areas not being stripped and avoid excessive
exposure time.
Storage
Store in an area above freezing temperature but below 30 °C [86 °F]. Ensure that storage area is dry and
away from sunlight. Store in a well-ventilated area and keep cool. Do not store next to strong oxidizers,
acids, or bases.
Health and Safety
Please see the 8309-Liquid or 8309-Pen

To remove coating using liquid format
1. Immerse the PCB ensuring the coated areas are fully submersed in the stripper.
2. Let sit about 1―2 hours or until the coat has softened.
3. (Optional) Use a non-abrasive brush or tool to remove most of the stripper, and then gently wipe
surface with a clean cloth dampened with an organic PCB cleaner.
4. Rinse with a PCB cleaner or isopropyl alcohol to remove the remaining stripper.
5. Repeat steps 1 to 4 if necessary.

To remove coating using pen format
1.
Shake pen vigorously.
2. Hold pen at angle and depress felt tip against surface
until tip gets wet, but not flooding.
3. Gently brush the wet tip onto desired area. To Keep
the tip saturated and the flow controlled, only press in
the tip as needed.
4. Replace cap and store tip up after use.
A
TTENTION
!
Do NOT continuously
keep the tip depressed or do not press
too hard. This can jam the valve
opening and cause flooding.
N
OTE
:
The felt tip on a new pen will take a few seconds to fully saturate, so expect an initial delay before
the stripper starts to flow. Moving the tip in circular motion can help loosen the felt fibers and speed up
the saturation process.
