ALS30/31 Series
The ALS30/31 series of screw terminal capacitors cover a
wide range of case sizes and voltage ratings featuring high
ripple currents and long life performance. They are ideally
suited for industrial and commercial applications demanding
high reliability and long life expectancy such as frequency
converters, UPS systems and switch mode power supplies.

ALS40/41 Series
The ALS40/41 series of screw terminal capacitors feature the
same high ripple currents and long life characteristics as the
ALS30/31 series but can operate at higher temperatures.
They are similarly suited for high reliability and long life
applications such as frequency converters, UPS systems and
switch mode power supplies, but the extended temperature
range allows increased ripple currents at lower
temperatures.

Case Polarity
-
due to the presence of electrolyte in the
capacitor the aluminium can and stud mounting will
essentially be at the same potential as the negative termi-
nal. BHC therefore recommends that the stud and can are
insulated (see accessories for insulating nuts).

Ripple current
The following values are approximate only, to give an
indication of the effects of frequency and temperature on
ripple current. More accurate data can be obtained by
referring to the Application Notes available from BHC.
FREQUENCY CORRECTION
Capacitors shall withstand the rated r.m.s. ripple current as
given in the table at upper category temperature in circulat-
ing air. For frequencies other than those shown the following
formula should be used:
