RP173x Series
Low Supply Current 150mA 11V Input LDO with Reverse Current Protection
The RP173x Series are CMOS-based LDO regulators featuring 150mA output and low supply current of Typ. 2.0μA. RP173x Series are
suitable for the power source such as the equipment being in the standby-mode. A version with
CE
input pin has reduced CE pull-up
∗
resistor to make its supply current ultra low. The RP173x Series have Max.11V Input voltage and are applicable to the portable
communication equipment that require the 2-cell Li-ion battery. Also they are applicable to the non-portable communication
equipments. As this series includes Reverse Current Protection Circuit, there is little leakage current, if it's used as back-up circuit.
SOT-23-5 and SC-88A packages, a 1mm square DFN(PLP)1010-4 package are available. Ceramic capacitors can be used.

CMOS LDO Regulator
RP173x Series
Reverse Current Protection Circuit
The Reverse Current Protection Circuit stops the reverse current
from V
OUT
pin to V
DD
pin or to GND pin when V
OUT
becomes
higher than V
IN
.
Usually, the LDO using Pch output transistor contains a parasitic
diode between V
DD
pin and V
OUT
pin. Therefore, if V
OUT
is higher
than V
IN
, the parasitic diode conducts in forward direction. As a
result, the current flows from V
OUT
pin to V
DD
pin.
RP173x Series switches to the reverse current protection mode
before V
IN
becomes lower than V
OUT
by connecting the parasitic
diode of Pch output transistor to the backward direction, and
connecting the gate to V
OUT
pin.
As a result, the Pch output transistor is turned off and the current
path from V
OUT
pin to GND pin is disconnected. (Except RP115x)

indicates a parasitic diode.
When using a backup circuit. In case of using LDO that doesn't have a Reverse Current Protection Circuit as shown in the left
figure, a protection schottky diode is required with the LDO. Please note that a schottky diode causes a dropout of about 0.3V and
leakage current of a few
μA
to 50μA.
When using an LDO including the Reverse Current Protection Circuit such as RP173x, the protection diode is not needed as
shown in the right figure. Therefore, it can prevent the voltage drop and the leakage current.
