This application note describes a method forimplementing analog to digital (A/D) conversion on thePIC16C5X series of microcontrollers. The converterrequires only five external components and is softwareand hardware configurable for conversion resolutionsfrom 6-bits up to 10-bits and conversion times of 250msor longer. The method is usable for both voltage andcurrent conversion and uses a software calibrationtechnique that compensates for time and temperaturedrift as well as component errors.
