This Application Note describes how to use the 87C751microcontroller to implement a gang programmer for the PhilipsPCF8582 and PCF8581 I2C EEPROMs. Included are software,schematic, and PCB layout to allow copying from one 16-pin sourceEEPROM into ten slave EEPROMs. When the process iscompleted, a green LED turns on and a small buzzer sounds. A redLED by each slave socket indicates a failed IC.The PCF8582 is a 256×8 CMOS EEPROM with I2C interface. Itcomes in a variety of 8- and 16-pin plastic packages. This particularlayout uses the 16-pin Dual In-Line package. The PCF8581 is a128×8 CMOS EEPROM.
