Low Noise, Low Power I2C® Bus, 256 TapsThe ISL90842 integrates four digitally controlledpotentiometers (DCP) configured as variable resistors on amonolithic CMOS integrated circuit.The digitally controlled potentiometers are implemented witha combination of resistor elements and CMOS switches. Theposition of the wipers are controlled by the user through theI2C bus interface. Each potentiometer has an associatedWiper Register (WR) that can be directly written to and readby the user. The contents of the WR controls the position ofthe wiper.The DCPs can be used as two-terminal variable resistors ina wide variety of applications including control, parameteradjustments, and signal processing.
