SUMMARY
Plan, organize, coach, and direct mechanical engineering staff for computing & storage and customer product’s design and implementation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:

Recruitment and Retention:
·
Recruit, interview, and hire team members for specific mechanical
team

·
Monitor team member turnover; identify key factors that can be improved; make improvements.

Employee and Team Development:
·
Identify individual and team strengths and development needs on an ongoing basis.
·
Create and/or validate training curriculum in area of responsibility.
·
Coach and mentor Mechanical staff to deliver excellence to every internal and external customer.

·
Create and manage succession plans for team staff.


Performance Management:

·
Establish clear measurable goals and objectives by which to determine individual and team results (i.e. operational metrics, results against project timelines, training documentation, attendance records, knowledge of operational roles and responsibilities, personal development goals).

·
Solicit ongoing feedback from peers and team member on team member’s contribution to the Design Services team.
Provide ongoing coaching and counseling to team member based on feedback.

·
Express pride in staff and encourage them to feel good about their accomplishments.

·
Perform team member evaluations professionally and on time.

·
Drive individuals and the team to continuously improve in key operational metrics and the achievement of the organizational goals.

·
Coordinate activities of large teams and keep them focused in times of crises.

·
Ensure recognition and rewards are managed fairly and consistently in area of responsibility.


Communication:

·
Provide communication forum for the exchange of ideas and information with other function departments.

·
Organize verbal and written ideas clearly and use an appropriate business style.

Ask questions; encourage input from team members.

Assess communication style of individual team members and adapt own communication style accordingly.


Technical Skills:

·
Provide direction on design and development activities to improve, modify or design new equipment products and processes.

·
Oversee key projects, processes and performance reports, data and analysis.
·
Select, develop, train and supervise staff.
Establish individual goals and training plans.

·
Develop, determine and implement policies, procedures and programs.
·
Analyze new components and development tools and provide guidance on their use.
·
Analyze technology trends, human resources needs and market demand to plan projects.

Confer with management and production staff to determine engineering feasibility and cost effectiveness.

Ensure proper documentation.

Select correct design concept and fundamental technology used for new products or improvement of existing ones.

Design and develop new components or redesign existing components to improve company products.

Determine and establish specifications through engineering calculations and layouts.

Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor.

Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy.

MAJOR REQUIREMENTSBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering area - with a minimum of eight (8) years computing or storage product design experience; MSEE, MBA preferred

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual capable of working with a minimum of supervision in a dynamic team environment. Good interpersonal skill is needed.


LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read, analyze, interpret, and communicate regarding common scientific and/or technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
Advanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of Jabil’s software packages

        Focus on both product development (e.g. time to market, quality, delivery, cost etc) and manufacturability issues (e.g. DFx reporting, materials and supplier management etc.)
        Develop, refine, optimize, and maintain the design processes & methods for all project development and documentation
        Create an infrastructure that stimulates collaboration, execution and the development of technologies between the cross-function teams
        Create and maintain awareness within the customer of the team achievements, objectives and concerns
        Liaise with BU project Managers to co-ordinate programs and initiatives, Develop Improvement Programs for the team leaders in the project and monitor the execution of the improvement programs.
        Support & Co-Ordinate the scheduled Business Review and Metrics driven process for all information
        Manage the development process of products and services involving departmental or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new or Existing products;
        Develop project plan, schedule, milestone, budget and both inputs and outputs deliverables; monitor the project from initiation through delivery
        Communicate project issue status to Jabil internal and external teams
        Organizes the interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project on schedule and within budget constraints.
        Manage design business quotation  (FRI/RFP/RFQ) & award and the project financial budgets

Person Background:
        Master's of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science  
        5+ years of experience as a power engineer designing computing power systems including AC-to-DC and DC-to-DC, rectifiers, DC panels, lightning protection and EMC filtering will be required
        Good experience of electronic ballast, UPS, switching power supply, DC-DC converter etc.
        Experience providing storage and network engineering mentor and supervision for design implementation
        Proficiency Level Written and Verbal English Skills

SUMMARY
Take the major responsibility to create signal integrity, power integrity related design rules for layout engineers’ use. And review the final design to make sure those design rules have been properly implemented. In addition, the candidate needs work closely with signal integrity engineer for the design rule creation. Need to communicate with customers to clarify the design rules.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following.
        Work with signal integrity engineer to create design rules.
        Explain the design rules to layout engineers and work with layout engineers to implement the design rules.
        Lead the layout review activity to make sure the final routings are compliance to the specified rules before gerber out.
        Communicate with customers to clarify the design rules.
        If some design rules cannot be implemented, need come up with other alternative solutions.
        Develop and maintain the PCB layout review process.   
        Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor.
        Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
o        4+ years experience in servers and storage product design
o        Familiar with signal integrity, power integrity fundamentals
o        Familiar with transmission line theory.
o        Familiar with PCB layout tools, like Cadence Allegro
o        The candidate must at least hold a Bachelor degree in electrical engineering.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

SUMMARY
Be responsible to use established procedures to design printed circuit boards with minimum supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.
?        Work with ECAD Manager and/or project manager to provide information that will aid in the initial quoting process.
?        Provide Document Control with a complete design package consisting of data and documentation prior to production launch.
?        Work concurrently with other Design Services departments, Business Unit Management, Manufacturing, Test, Purchasing, and Quality departments through the design phase of a program.  Work to provide a design that not only meets the customer’s criteria, but is also of high quality, cost effective, and manufacturable.
?        Support production discrepancies by incorporating fixes into subsequent revisions in a timely manner.
?        Communicate and clarify engineering queries from PCB vendor.
?        Record all ideas, sketches, and pertinent conversations in Design Engineering approved Log Book or Lab Notebook.
?        Use SPC data collected in production in subsequent programs to ensure continuing improvement in designs.
?        Assigned to projects of diverse scope, where analysis of situation or data requires an evaluation of identifiable factors.  
?        Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.  
?        Stay abreast of the latest technology and techniques to provide designs that are competitive and cost effective.
?        Lead a small group of team on project basis; assist team members, conduct peer review for the designs if required.
?        Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
?        Bachelor or equivalent
?        Min. 5 years PCB layout experiences
?        Be knowledgeable on high speed PCB design
?        Good understanding for Power, EMC and SI
?        Be familiar with different assembly process, know how it impacts the PCB design
?        Enterprise level server/storage product design experiences is a plus
?        Be familiar with Cadence Allegro design tools, Min. 3 years product design experiences on it
?        Ability to read, analyze, and interpret datasheets, application notes, design guidelines, incorporate all the design requirements from different aspects into Allegro constraints/rules.
